This one is a standby for entertaining. Easy to assemble, tasty, and reasonably forgiving of being adjusted to taste. It's basically my mom's standard recipe, with a few tweaks of my own added. Pass the taco chips!!
(No picture, sorry... the kids won't eat it, so if I make it, hubby and I will have to eat the whole pan....)
Layered Nacho Dip
Mix together:
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
1 package taco seasoning
Spread on serving plate.
Brown 1/2 lb ground beef, drain grease. Season with taco seasoning. Layer on top of sour cream mixture.
Top with chopped tomatoes, onion, shredded lettuce, and shredded cheese.
Serve warm or cold with nacho chips, and with salsa on the side.
Other additions according to taste: refried beans, hot peppers, black olives, canned kidney beans, guacamole, chopped green onions. The first layer can also be plain sour cream.
I remember your mom making a version of this one day when I was spending the night at your place in South Ohio. It started my lifelong love affair with nacho dips :)
